Well the BBC programme 'Who Do You Think You Are' finally kicked me into doing something I had talked about for ages, and check out my past. Unfortunately the facts of the matter leave me with no other alternative, at this stage, but to declare my McTadger nickname a sham.
The origins of the McTadger name stem from a belief in the family that a couple of generations ago a lady turned her back on a reasonably well to do life in Scotland, headed south, but not too far south, and got romantically involved with a Geordie boy below her station. Sadly I must report that at this moment in time I cannot confirm this story having gone back four generations. More worryingly, I have found relatives from Dorset and Suffolk! It is true though that the name Blacklock does seem to have Scottish roots so the search will go on and I will not abandon my moniker.
To find out more use the Family Tree links below to view PDF (you will need Adobe Acrobat reader) files of my past. The ascendants of my lippy daughter Hannah will show the overall context. Note that this only shows what I know to date and is not a complete picture. While I have tried to cross reference as much as possible I cannot guarantee the accuracy. Any comments can be mailed to me or by using the Family History forum topic under the News link.
Yours, Carrot Crunching Geordie Whippet Boy
