When the Going Gets Tough Get Some Help From Your Family!

After being at a bit of a dead end for sometime with great great grandads Walter Hammon and John Underdown I chanced upon some Family Trees that had already been listed in Ancestry.co.uk. I have run out of online resources because it was only some bright sparks idea to require people to register births, deaths and marriages after 1837. Prior to that, the good vicars of the land had to scribble entries in parish record books and then remember not to chuck them on fires during the winter months. Although some parish records have been made available on the Internet generally speaking one must go to the ancestral home and find them.

However thanks to some great work by Diana McGlone, she has been able to provide me with 6 generations back from Walter Hammon all the way back to 1682. The next night, still flush with the enormous amount of effort I had put into the previous night's research, I discovered more fantastic work from Gordon Mabb who was able to give me the 6 generations extra I needed to even the tree up down John Underdown's side.

Once again, thank you to you both for allowing me to use the information in my own tree.

For any of you that want to find out how you really research you family history (and for that matter how to set up a real website) take a look at Diana's website www.researchmyfamily.com.
